Cookie Policy
Effective July 16, 2026 · version 1.1
In short
- We use necessary cookies only — your language and the record of your consent.
- We measure audience with Plausible Analytics, cookie-free and without identifying you — aggregated data, processed in the European Union.
- Heatmaps (Microsoft Clarity) only run with your consent, under the Statistics category. No marketing.
- You control everything in , at any time.
This page explains what cookies are, how Mappier uses them on the mappier.ai website, and how you control your consent.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website can store on your device. We also use the browser's local storage, which works in a similar way. They may be first-party (from mappier.ai) or third-party, and session (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent.
2. Our stance today
We strive to collect the minimum. For that reason, at the moment:
- we use necessary cookies only (language and the record of consent) and the logs from our hosting provider;
- we serve fonts from our own domain — we do not call Google Fonts or other third parties;
- we measure the site's audience with Plausible Analytics, a cookie-free tool: it stores nothing on your device, creates no persistent identifier and does not identify you. Metrics are aggregated (pages viewed, visit source, reading time), processed on servers in the European Union and never shared for advertising. Legal basis: legitimate interest (LGPD art. 7, IX / GDPR art. 6(1)(f)), with a documented balancing test;
- heatmaps and session recordings (Microsoft Clarity) only run with your consent, under the Statistics category;
- we do not use marketing cookies or cross-site tracking.
3. Categories
We organize cookies into four categories. The legal bases follow the LGPD and the GDPR.
- Necessary (always active) — they make the site work: language, security, and the record of your consent. Legal basis: performance of a contract / legitimate interest; no consent required.
- Preferences (reserved — not used today) — they would remember choices such as language and region.
- Statistics (in use, subject to consent) — they help understand how the site is used: Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and session recordings. They only run after you accept this category.
- Marketing (reserved — not used today) — they would measure campaigns and relevant content.
The reserved categories appear in the preferences panel for the future. As long as none of those tools exist, nothing is loaded — even if you enable them. If they are ever turned on, we will ask for your prior consent, by category. Note: Plausible does not belong to any cookie category because it uses no cookies or local storage — it is described in section 2 and listed in the table below for transparency.
4. Cookies and measurement tools we use today
| Item | Category | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mappier-lang | Necessary | Stores the chosen language | Persistent | Local storage |
| mappier-consent | Necessary | Records your cookie choice | Persistent | Local storage |
| Server logs (Netlify) | Necessary | Site security and operation | Short term | Server log |
| Plausible Analytics | Cookie-free measurement | Aggregated audience metrics (pages, source, time) | — | Measurement script — stores nothing on your device |
| _clck (Microsoft Clarity) | Statistics (opt-in) | Distinguishes visitors in heatmaps | Up to 1 year | First-party cookie |
| _clsk (Microsoft Clarity) | Statistics (opt-in) | Groups pages of the same visit | 1 day | First-party cookie |
5. How to manage and withdraw
You decide what to allow. To review at any time, use (the link is also in the site footer). Withdrawing is as easy as consenting. You can also delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings — bearing in mind that blocking the necessary ones may affect basic functions, such as language.
6. Third-party tools
Audience measurement (Plausible Analytics, by Plausible Insights OÜ) runs without cookies and is served from our own domain; aggregated data is processed in the European Union and never used for advertising. With your consent under the Statistics category, Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session recordings) sets the cookies listed above and processes data according to Microsoft's privacy policy. Marketing tools remain off the site; if they are ever added, they will be listed here and only activated with your prior consent.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this page. The version in force is always the one published here, with the date at the top.
